Oil Water Separator admits non-chemically emulsified oily water containing hydrocarbons with densities between 0.85 and 0.95. The heavier materials (sludge, sand, etc.) sediment in the pre-sludge trap zone and are retained there. This compartment also retains hydrocarbons that are in easily floatable forms. Only water and substances lighter than water, namely the hydrocarbons to be separated, pass into the separation zone.
The separators are equipped with a coalescing filter, which allows the smaller oil particles to aggregate into larger particles. Aggregation of the particles increases the upward force sufficient to release them from the main flow lines towards the surface. In this chamber, the hydrocarbons accumulate on the surface, while the treated water exits through the bottom of the equipment.
The Oil Water Separator is equipped with an automatic closure device (massive anti-miscalibration system), which prevents hydrocarbons from escaping once the equipment's maximum holding capacity has been reached, thus preventing contamination of the receiving environment. The operation of the Oil Water Separator does not require energy consumption and is based on the gravitational separation of materials with a different density to water, assisted by the presence of an oleophilic coalescing cell.
