The operation of grease separators requires no energy consumption and is based on the gravitational separation of materials with a different density to water.
The heavier materials (sludge, sand, etc.) sediment in the pre-decanting compartment and are retained there.
This compartment also retains fats that are in easily flotable forms. Only water and substances lighter than water, namely the fats to be separated, pass into the separation zone.
The grease accumulates on the surface, while the clean water comes out at a level that doesn't allow the phases to mix.
